GALAXICAN
Everything here is free to use in coverage, no permission needed.
Galaxican is a real-time strategy game with the genre's furniture removed. No bases, no tech tree, no resource counters. Your stars make ships, ships take stars, and every decision in between is yours.
It costs $2.99 once. There are no ads, no in-app purchases and no analytics — the Android build ships with no permissions at all, not even internet access, so it is technically incapable of phoning home.

Real-time strategy stripped to its bones — merge swarms into fleets and take every star.
Galaxican is a minimalist real-time strategy game. Stars you own produce ships; ships you send take more stars. Five motes fuse into a squad worth more than five motes, three squads into a battleship, a battleship into a permanent gun tower — so every unit you own poses the same question: strike now, or merge and hit twice as hard later. Thirty rotationally symmetric maps, three speed tiers, one AI that plays named strategies and does not cheat.
Most strategy games ask you to manage an economy. Galaxican asks you to manage one decision, repeatedly, under time pressure: what is this ship worth if you keep it a little longer?
Fusion manufactures value rather than merely consolidating it. Five motes make a squad with more effective health than the five motes had. Three squads make a battleship worth more than the three squads. Convert that battleship into a tower and it becomes a permanent emplacement — the strongest trade available. Holding back always pays, which is precisely what makes it hard, because the enemy is expanding while you wait.
Every board is 180° rotationally symmetric and both sides start identical: same stars, same tiers, same distances. The AI plays named strategies — expansionists sprawl, raiders harass, consolidators mass a doom stack and walk it into your capital. It gets no hidden bonuses. When you lose, it was you.
Thirty levels form recognisable shapes — diamond, circle, cross, hourglass, figure-eight, spiral — from a nine-star opener to a twenty-six-star finale across six regions. Clearing a level at normal speed unlocks fast; clearing it at fast unlocks extreme. At 3× the optimal line is a different line, which makes ninety distinct challenges out of thirty boards.
Nothing is explained before it is needed. Level one is stars and motes. Level two adds fusion. Level three adds towers. There is no tutorial to sit through.
Fusion produces more than the sum of its parts, so patience is a real strategy and impatience is a real one too.
Symmetric maps, identical starts, an AI with no hidden bonuses and a visible personality.
Recognisable shapes across six regions, each with three speed tiers that have to be earned.
No ads, no IAP, no accounts, no energy timers, no notifications, and no internet permission at all.

Galaxican was designed, built, illustrated and tested by Jose Antonio Licon, working alone. The sound effects are synthesised from scratch rather than licensed. It is the product of one person deciding that a strategy game did not need a shop in it.
